Successful outcomes in the marketplace are all about relationships. Throughout my time working with some of Silicon Valley’s top technology brands, I’ve learned that chemistry is critical—whether that’s with a client, media or other influencers. For us at Bite, building these deep and meaningful relationships revolve around our five values of courage, passion, creativity, teamwork and fun in everything that we do.
This was evident in our recent naming as North American agency-of-record for Mozilla, makers of the popular Firefox browser. Mozilla places high importance on connecting people, creating communities, and fostering conversations. This is also our role as communications professionals here at Bite: we connect people with messages that resonate.
The engagement, which started June 1, is being directed out of the Bite San Francisco office by Bill Danon, senior vice president, and run day-to-day by account director Gretchen Bender. On behalf of Mozilla, our team is working on media relations, content development, digital communications, Web properties and use of digital and social means to amplify thought-leadership programs, product campaigns and conversations focused on Internet openness. While the proposal included the aforementioned work, we also put forth an unexpected and surprising offer.
Mozilla’s headquarters and Bite San Francisco sit within the same waterfront complex—with each visible to the other from their respective rooftop terraces. To play upon this fact if selected to progress to the pitch stage with Mozilla, we offered in our proposal to make a grand entrance via zipline—seven storeys above a common courtyard—to the Mozilla terrace. Much to my team’s disappointment, Mozilla didn’t push for this, probably from the possible wrath of property management! However, they did say that they loved the gesture and saw it indicative of Bite’s approach to win their business. While we will have to wait to demonstrate our high-flying expertise at another time, we look forward to wowing them with our work and helping them win in the marketplace.
