It’s Wednesday so it must be time for the latest update on all things digital…
SOCIAL MEDIA DOWNLOAD
Microsoft announced the purchase of social network Yammer for $1.2bn dollars earlier this week. The software giant said that this will help to enable their products to operate in the cloud more effectively.
Facebook has been criticised this week over the way it has handled a switch in users contact information. The company altered email addresses listed in peoples’ contacts to its @facebook.com system automatically, which prompted a backlash from users.
Tumblr has updated its iPhone app – making blogging from your iPhone to the platform a whole lot easier. Interestingly the new IOS app has been carefully modelled on the Android version of the app – showing that Apple users dont have it all after all!
THE TOOLBOX
If you have a smartphone with a camera (who doesn’t!) it is highly likely that you will be using the amazingly cool Instagram app. You’ll also be aware that accessing your account is difficult if you’ve forgotten said smartphone! But fear not http://instagre.at/ will allow you to access your account online. Until Instagram develops it’s own site to allow this functionality this is one of the best ways to view pictures from the photo sharing app.
CAMPAIGN OF THE WEEK
In this viral from Mercedes, David Coulthard manages to catch a golf ball that was travelling at 178mph in his car. The stunt was a Guinness World Record and, unlike some other videos of sports stars completing unbelievable acts, doesn’t rely on computer graphics or camera trickery!
INFOGRAPHIC OF THE WEEK
