We had a quick Q&A with Tommy after the presentation.
K: How can brands benefit from Visual.ly ?
T: Many ways. Visual.ly offers a marketplace that allows brands to find the creative talent they need to create infographics and data visualizations. The recently introduced “Visual.ly Create for Brands” allows brands to tell themed visual stories to support any campaign with automatically generated infographics that can be shared easily through social networks.
K: What makes Visual.ly different from other visual data design companies?
T: Visual.ly is one stop shopping for creating, exploring, and sharing infographics. We also take a journalistic approach to the creation of infographics and we subscribe to a data visualization code of ethics that ensures accuracy and quality.
K: Has there been any cases where data just couldn’t really be effectively translated into a visual format?
T: Not all infographics contain data or data visualization but you don’t want a laundry list of randomly sourced facts. You should try to present a strong narrative, with a clear conclusion.
