The Digest – Tech X-Factor, Obama breaks Twitter and Google hits puberty!

There’s a chill in the air, but it’s hotting up on the social media front this week. We’ve rounded up some of the best bits for you.

The Social Media and Digital Download:

President Obama and Mitt Romney’s first presidential debate has broken a Twitter record for US political events this week. The discussion on domestic policy has become the most tweeted event in US political history with over 2 million tweets! Could UK politics generate the same conversations?

Google is now more valuable than Microsoft, as its stock price has climbed steadily this year. Growth areas for the internet giant include Android mobile operating systems and YouTube video revenue. Not a bad way to celebrate their 14th Birthday!

It seems the tech entrepreneurial world is in need of an X-Factor equivalent, according to Simon Cowell and Will.i.am, who apparently met last month to discuss plans for the new show. Will.i.am was recently appointed as Intel’s director of creative innovation, and reportedly thinks the show would create lots of jobs….time will tell if this idea comes to fruition. Would you watch it?
